I received a heart-warming letter from Magteld Smith, the editor of Voices of Change - a newspaper that focuses on 'Transformation on PEOPLE with disabilities'.
Dear Miss Fourie
Voices of Change (VOC) would like to congratulate you on your recent success at the Miss Deaf International 2010 event in Las Vegas in the United States of America.
Our hearts were filled with pride when we witnessed a young, talented and beautiful South African lady with a hearing impairment being crowned as the second princess at this prestigious pageant.
You have, without a doubt, succeeded in creating awareness of Miss Deaf SA. Because of you, this pageant has grown from an unknown campaign to a prestigious event and wonderful honour.
You also contribute to other important perceptions regarding people with hearing impairment, such as spoken language, excellent writing skills, intelligence and bilingualism. For this we thank you.
We wish you the very best on your journeys ahead.
