Grassrootsoccer's Head Coach invited me to be part of their event that they have planned for the 1st of December 2011. Unfortunately, I won't be able to join as I will be in Pretoria that day.
I am good friends with the Head Coach, Chief Leeuw & I support what they are doing for our community.
I decided to post the following info here on my blog. Please support them if you feel so in your heart:
Grassrootsoccer (GRS) uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize communities to stop the spread of HIV. We conduct HIV prevention and life skills interventions in over 30 primary schools in Mangaung, to provide youth with the knowledge, skills, and support to live healthier lives. GRS has graduated more than 4500 youth so far this year and encourate more than 500 to test during HCT events in Bloemfontein.
As store windows start displaying Christmas decorations it is time to realise that there will be children that might not be able to join in the cheer of the festive season. To support those in need Grassrootsocccer and Vodacom will be donating a container to one of the 2010 leagacy facility (Artificial Pitch Soccer), Batho Township as part of Celebration of the said day.
We also invited 40 kids from Olesego Place of Safety who some of them are infected and affected of HIV and Aids to be part of the event. Once more we are collecting toys (new or used) for these underprivileged children as early Christmas season for them. We also welcome clothing, blankets, non-perishable foods, hygiene products and cleaning metarial. Olesego Place of Safety started in the year 2007 by two young women (Cecilia Nteo and Masentle Mabe)and is based in Rocklands and currectly they have kids from 2 years - 12 years old. We will be having special kiddies area for them with Jumping Castles, Face Painting, Gifts and Promotional Items.
Other activities that will take place will be:
Parade from Legae Primary to Mangaung Primary will our Graduates and partners with posters for 2011 theme.
Official hand over of the container.
Soccer Clinics and GRS Activities to all participants
Mini Soccer Tournament sponsored by BMW.
Our partners are:
Mangaung Metro Municipality (Facilities)
Mangaung Metro Aids Unit
Hoping and trusting our request will be highly appreciated and our office is will to collect any item you wish to donate to Olesego Place of Safety.
